Review: Frigid by J. Lynn

indexSYNOPSIS:

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn’t anything new. They’d been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the ‘man’ in man-whore. He’s never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn’t want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she’s perfect and she’s everything. But the feelings he has for her, he’s always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they’re stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor’easter, there’s nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

REVIEW:

This book was not what I initially anticipated but it was in a good way! Two friends who are secretly in love with each other but won’t admit there real feelings, I mean come on who hasn’t felt like this at least once in their lives? The feelings and emotions portrayed are real and relate-able. In the end a happy ending always makes me a happy reader.

Syd has been in love with man whore Kyler forever. She watches him over and over take home various girls and he has developed quite the reputation. Syd still loves Kyler though, she is still the best friend that he needs and the girl who is always there. Syd is your best friend at college who you are constantly telling to move on but then when the ending comes you are like thank god you never listened to me!

Kyler is constantly hooking up with girls as a coping mechanism for the one girl he will never have, Syd. He has put her on such a high pedestal in his mind that he doesn’t know if he will ever be worthy of her. However, Kyler is jealous of any relationship Syd has with any other men. He is complex and full of angst and sexual frustration. He doesn’t open up to just anyone and he opened up to Syd and they are both just too scared to truly see what is right in front of them.

There were moments when I was giggling, moments when I was yelling at Sydney or Kyler for how they were acting, and moments when I was like its about damn time! I like this story because it is not your typical love story it has a twist, which I didn’t really piece together until the reveal. It was a light read that I didn’t want to put down until I finished the book and I highly recommend this read!
