Review: All Chained Up by Sophie Jordan

SYNOPSIS:

There are bad boys and then there are the men of Devil’s Rock . . .

Some men come with a built-in warning label. Knox Callaghan is one of them. Danger radiates from every lean, muscled inch of him, and his deep blue eyes seem to see right through to Briar Davis’s most secret fantasies. But there’s one major problem: Briar is a nurse volunteering at the local prison, and Knox is an inmate who should be off-limits in every way.

Knox feels it too—a shocking animal magnetism that drives him to risk his own life to protect Briar’s. Paroled at last, he tries to resist her. She’s too innocent, too sweet, and she has no idea what Knox is capable of. But a single touch can lead to a kiss—and a taste . . . until the only crime is denying what feels so right . . .

I knew there was a good reason as to why I was putting this book off, and I was correct. This book was a train wreck, filled with as many troupes as Sophie could cram onto the pages. Let me start from the beginning, I can understand lust, and an in instant attraction. So I can get behind this, these two characters are obviously going to hook up, whatever, moving on.

Then we come to the hooking up, listen, these two must be God d*mn magical together because he touches her boobs and she orgasms, he tells her to orgasm and she orgasms, he tells her to hold off and she does. I am like that’s not how this works, that’s not how any of this works. Then lets throw in all the stars she is seeing from these mind blowing orgasms…girl please.

So then he wakes up in the middle of the night and is so ‘consumed’ with need that they have UNPROTECTED SEX…are you stupid? You literally don’t even know each other and now you might be pregnant, because we all know dis b*tch isn’t on the pill! Yes the casual pregnancy scare troupe. At this point in the novel I am committed to the train wreck that is this story, Lord help me see it through.

I continue on, where Knox is with Briar and he literally picks fights with anyone who even looks at her. Mind you they still don’t even know each other, and there has been no character development aside from the ridiculous amounts of sex they have been having. But no worries, he only broke someones arm and another guys nose, no one presses charges or wants to see him locked up. *sigh* At this point it couldn’t get worse, but then guess what, she isn’t pregnant and guess who is disappointed, both of them…

News flash, y’all don’t even know each other, you haven’t had one meaningful conversation, and anyways we all know this is going to end in some massively f*cked up happily ever after. So they commit to each other, admit their love and decide to move in together and get married 4 months into this disastrous relationship. As I close the page, I thank the Lord I didn’t waste my money on the whole series and wonder where the heck the editors and beta-readers were.
