Review: Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs

SYNOPSIS:

Under the rule of science, there are no witch burnings allowed, no water trials or public lynchings. In return, the average law-abiding, solid citizen has little to worry about from the things that go bump in the night. Sometimes I wish I was an average citizen…

Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places-and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind.

But this new vampire is hardly ordinary-and neither is the demon inside of him.

REVIEW:

This book was a hot mess, in the best sort of way. Honestly, I was mid-way through the story and all I could think to myself was, “How do you keep ending up in these situations Mercy?”. This story is the definition of Murphy’s Law, what can go wrong…most certainly will. I loved the chaos and twists and turns of the story-line, it kept me on my toes and I could never truly predict how things would play out.

I positively adored how Mercy is painted as this seedy, sketchy character…what can I say other than I am a sucker for the underdog. There is a little to much fickle-ness in Mercy’s romance life for my liking…damn girl be smooching everyone! So if she could make up her mind that would be pretty fantastic, and by make up her mind I mean pick Adam…for obvious Alpha werewolf reasons *swoon*.

In terms of the plot, I really enjoyed it. I love learning all the politics among vampires, werewolves, and fae..oh my! The vast differences in these worlds bleed into the different characters, creating a colorful cast of misfits that you can’t help but adore. And a few rotten seeds that you can’t help but want to kick to the curb… Overall, I am starting to like this series more and more and love that it is action packed from start to close.
