Review: Officer Off Limits by Tessa Bailey

SYNOPSIS:

His need to possess her is non-negotiable.

Story Brooks’ fiancé just called off their wedding two weeks before the happy day. As if that isn’t bad enough, her semi-estranged father, an infamous NYPD hostage negotiator, has suffered a heart attack. Not wanting to examine her lack of emotion over the broken engagement, she hops on a plane to reconnect with her father before it’s too late.

Playboy hostage negotiator Daniel Chase has never, not once, been refused by a woman, so when a debate over hospital snack foods with a delectable kindergarten teacher ends in flat-out rejection, he makes it his mission to seduce her. His only obstacle? She’s the daughter of his mentor who implicitly forbade Daniel from pursuing her.

Despite her father’s warnings and Daniel’s troubled past, Daniel and Story can’t resist their intense attraction to one another. But when the reason for her fiancé’s abrupt wedding cancellation comes to light, can Story and Daniel’s already forbidden relationship survive?

REVIEW:

Damnnnnnnn, this book was hot, hot, hot. I think this is my favorite so far in the Line of Duty series, it even surpasses Dirty Derek! So I won’t lie, when I heard Story’s name I had to role my eyes because really? That peeve aside, I actually loved Story as a character, she was on a journey to finding herself again after changing for a relationship and it was inspiring. I found Story really relate-able because it is easy to lose yourself in relationships and she was a great reminder to always stay true to yourself.

I absolutely adored Daniel, he was the sexy alpha male you can’t help but swoon for. The story is the perfect balance of lust, sex, and drama. I really enjoyed watching his relationship with Story grow into something deeper, all while he battled his own demons. The story is filled with plenty of blush worthy moments, even Story’s embarrassment had me turning into a tomato. Tessa Bailey exceeds at flawlessly balancing romance, tension, and reality.

Now, the real star of this novel is Story’s smart-*ss dad, Jack. He was hilarious, cunning, and clever. Oh did I forget to mention the epic plot twist Tessa dropped at 87% into the book? Seriously, my jaw damn near hit the ground and I was left saying, wait, what?! Usually I am so good at these things but alas, she totally pulled one over on me. In the end she wrapped things up into a nice little bow and left me really excited for the next book…which I shall start now.
