Review: Spinning Scars by Alexia Purdy

SYNOPSIS: spinning scars cover main with text

Some legends are more than real.

Others don’t want them to exist…

Immortality can have its downfalls, especially when you’re a creature made of nightmares.

Matthias just wants to live in peace after centuries of being hunted by the Others for what he is. Enrolling in a subdued college and hiding his true nature seems to be working. That is, until he meets Ruby, a beautiful college freshman who’s the opposite of peace. He’s thrown a curve ball when he discovers his unrelenting attraction to her, who she really is, and that they’re both in mortal danger. They’re being hunted, but for reasons Matthias has all wrong.

REVIEW:

This was a super sweet, simple, cute novella with a happily ever after guaranteed! I loved the unexpected twist that Alexia always manages to sneak into books. Whether I am in the Land Of Fae or living with “creatures” among us, I know I will enjoy the story. I loved how the story started on a tragic note because you see and learn to appreciate how strong Ruby is. I also really enjoyed learning what the scars symbolized and watching the characters develop and grow in that short time frame. I always hope there will be a full-length novel where I could see these characters develop and dive deeper into the story but overall, I was left with a smile on my face and I believe that is how every story should end!

This book will be available as part of Lacing Shadows Anthology which will be released September 2014.
