Review: Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins

SYNOPSIS:

It’s time.

Evil is running rampant and sweet Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.

REVIEW:

The last time I was this captivated by a book series was probably when I read Twilight. This series has been consuming my thoughts, from the amazing characters, to the tantalizing plot, I couldn’t put the books down, and Sweet Reckoning was no exception. As the conclusion to The Sweet Trilogy sets the battle for heaven and hell, I find myself filled with giddy excitement, hope, and a bit of worry because you know at least one person is going to die during the battles of this book.

I have loved watching Anna’s character evolution over the process of these books, she went from a naive, timid girl to a fearless, confident woman and it left me in awe. Then there is my sweet Kai…he fought his calling, and fought for love, and battled his own inner demons and had me continually melting into a pile of goo. This book is far steamier than its predecessors and I think you could hear my cheers as so many characters found love.

Aside from the abundance of swooning I did, hell who am I kidding, I am still swooning over Kai…anyways there were so many giggle worthy moments that had me blushing and actually laughing out loud. As I closed the last page of the book, I had the biggest smile on my face, as bittersweet as some moments were, my heart was happy and full. I teared up because this series has touched something deep inside me and its books like these that remind me why I love to read in the first place. These are the books that continue to restore my passion of reading and now I can’t wait to start Kai’s book.
