Review/Blog Tour/Giveaway: Down with the Shine by Kate Karyus Quinn

Down with the Shine Banner

SYNOPSIS:Down with the Shine

There’s a reason they say “be careful what you wish for.” Just ask the girl who wished to be thinner and ended up smaller than Thumbelina, or the boy who asked for “balls of steel” and got them-literally. And never wish for your party to go on forever. Not unless you want your guests to be struck down by debilitating pain if they try to leave.

These are things Lennie only learns when it’s too late-after she brings some of her uncles’ moonshine to a party and toasts to dozens of wishes, including a big wish of her own: to bring back her best friend, Dylan, who was abducted and murdered six months ago.

Lennie didn’t mean to cause so much chaos. She always thought her uncles’ moonshine toast was just a tradition. And when they talked about carrying on their “important family legacy,” she thought they meant good old-fashioned bootlegging.

As it turns out, they meant granting wishes. And Lennie has just granted more in one night than her uncles would grant in a year.

Now she has to find a way to undo the damage. But once granted, a wish can’t be unmade…

REVIEW:

*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*

This book was a ridiculously quick read, with such a unique topic it was like a breath of fresh air. From the instantaneous chaos that ensues throughout the whole book to the ending that left me more than puzzled, I really liked this story. I love how Kate committed to the mass chaos and went with the its going to get much worse before it gets better route.

As I read this quirky story, you find the chaos just piles on and on and on. I mean seriously what are the chances?! It was fantastic, you knew that things were going to continue to get worst and you could only ideally sit by wondering what crazy-thing is going to happen next. Smith…le swoon, I love Smith and he has earned a warm spot in my heart. I have mixed feelings for Dyl, this girl has alot she needs to work out. But lets not forget our heroine Lennie,  she is chaotic, impulsive, nervous energy that carries this story.

I just loved it, such a unique story, and fun concept. It is a quick, fast paced read that will you with a smile. The ever-changing story line left me captivated and I could not put it down! I was feeding off the chaos and finished it while at work (shhh don’t tell my bosses). Quirky, captivating, silly, and one of a kind, it was exactly what I wished for.
