Review: Steel Lily by Megan Curd

17828413SYNOPSIS:

AVERY PIKE is a commodity. No, more than a commodity. Her existence is guarded at all costs.

She’s a water Elementalist, the strongest of her dwindling kind. She creates steam to provide energy to fuel Dome Four: the only thing standing between humanity and an earth ravaged by World War III. No steam, no Dome. No Dome, no life.

Or so she thinks.

That is, until a mysterious man offers her a way out of having to donate steam. A way to escape the corrupt government of Dome Four. While the offer seems too good to be true, Avery is intrigued.

But when she arrives to her new home, she realizes the grass isn’t any less dead on this side of the fence. Instead, the lies are just hidden better.

…Which means digging deeper.

When Avery enlists the help of her friends to uncover the truth, she learns that while some secrets are better left concealed, humankind was never meant to live in a cage. And when you can control the most sought after resource, you can learn to control anything…including the fate of your world.

REVIEW:

Where do I begin with this review, I mean there is so much I could gush over because that is how much I loved this book! One word to describe this book is AMAZING! I have yet to be disappointed by any of Megan Curd’s books. The only disappointment I experience is knowing that I have to wait for the next book to be released!

So I won this book as an ARC and surprisingly there were hardly any grammatical errors, mis-wordings, etc. From the start of this book I could not put it down, I fell head over heels for Avery and Jaxon. Their banter had me laughing and giggling like a school girl (I am technically a college girl).  They are in such denial about how they felt and I love it! There were moments when I was yelling at them through my Kindle in the hopes that they would wake up and realize they are exactly alike!

Then, you don’t even want to get me started on the twist. I had to pick my jaw up from the floor towards the end of the book. The emotions and feelings I was experiencing! I was in total and complete shock when it was revealed (wouldn’t want to ruin the best part)! Megan gives you little hints along the way but I never pieced it together. I was so angry and happy and sad and damn you Megan for writing these books! Needless to say you need to get this book ASAP but I will warn you save time to read it in one sitting because even if you stop and put it down, thoughts of the book will still consume your mind!

The book is to be released on August 20th 2013 and everyone needs a copy because I will re-read this book again and again until the next one comes out, planned for 2014 I hope!

FAVORITE QUOTES:

“Ugly can be wrapped deceitfully in the throws of beauty…And it’s hard to tell the difference when one isn’t used to seeing it.”

“Multi famam, conscientiam, pauci verentur.” ‘Many fear their reputations, but few their conscience.’
