Review: Take Care, Sara by Lindy Zart
You breathe in, you breathe out, and everything you know is gone.
Sara Walker knows firsthand what it feels like to have your reality ripped away, scrambled, and shoved back at you in an undone puzzle where pieces are missing and nothing fits. She’s lost so much and is struggling to live and to find the strength to forgive herself for being human. With the help of Lincoln, her husband’s brother, Sara realizes it’s not about finding who she used to be, but about finding who she is now.
You breathe in, you breathe out, and everything you know isn’t gone, but reborn.
REVIEW:
This book broke my heart and shattered it into a million pieces. Don’t worry, it eventually put it back together too. Sara is in so much pain and I could feel her pain, I was drowning in her sorrow and the whole time I was wishing she would heal because I hurt for her. This book had me on the verge of tears and the entire time I wanted to know what happened, but poor Sara faced blow after blow from life and she was left for dead, at least in her mind.
This is a novel about growing as a person, and realizing that people change over time. That change is required to allow yourself to truly heal from the trials life throws our way. I wanted so desperately to hug Sara and tell her things will get better. Then there are the phone calls, the sweet, wonderful, one-way phone calls. I loved them, I lived for them because they showed light to a dark situation.
Cole and Lincoln, God I think I fell in love with both of you but I was head over heels for Lincoln. He was the strong one in the face of hardship. He was there to help with the healing but it turned out he needed help to heal too. I am honestly to speechless to write a detailed, spoiler review.
The what if quote (I placed below) really hit home for me because if you ever met me I am the biggest what if-er ever. This novel made me stop and think in a way that many don’t. It was simply beautiful and breathtaking and I recommend you pick it up because it might just touch your heart the way it touched mine.
FAVORITE QUOTES:
That was the one thing that never changed; the world kept moving, even when a life stopped.
That’s the thing about ‘what ifs’; they don’t matter. They don’t change anything. All they do is make it unable for you to heal. You have to find a way to get past them.
Maybe strength wasn’t decided by what you could do, but by what you could do without.
