REVIEW:
First off, if you haven’t read books 1-5 of The Mortal Instruments, please go do so. Then you should probably get this book and read it but I am warning you, it is 700+ pages long and addictive.
Now, I waited TWO YEARS for this book, two agonizingly long years to know what the heck happens and Cassandra Clare did not disappoint. By the 100s I was crying, by the 500s I was giggling, and by the last page I felt the closure I so long desired, and needed. It was certainly an emotional journey and I will surely miss Clary, Jace, and everyone else I have fallen in love with other the years.
I think the greatest thing that bothered me was that you could tell this book was obviously written with the next spin off series in mind. In my personal opinion, I hate it when authors do this. I think it takes away from the actual story. The book starts off with a Prologue and it is filled with a bunch of characters that are completely new or have only been mentioned once before in passing and this annoyed me. As a dedicated fan and reader I wanted Jace, Clary, Izzy, Simon, the gang up in my face, planning and plotting. Now don’t get me wrong she incorporates the news characters nicely and sets them up for there story but that was my one problem.
Otherwise the book is a wild journey and will answer all the questions you ever had about this series and more. I was not left wanting more, I was satisfied with how things ended, wrapped up nicely and there were no loose ends that needed tied up. This definitely takes you right up to the moment and Cassie doesn’t give anything away, she makes you wait until the final show down and it was intense. I loved the ending, and otherwise my only recommendation is that this book was worth every penny, if you are a dedicated fan of the series!
