Review: Rome by Jay Crownover
SYNOPSIS:
Sometimes the wrong choice can be just right . . .
Fun and fearless, Cora Lewis knows how to keep her tattooed “bad boy” friends at the Marked in line. But beneath all that flash and sass is a broken heart. Cora won’t let herself get burned again. She’s waiting to fall in love with the perfect man—a baggage-free, drama-free guy ready for commitment. Then she meets Rome Archer.
Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn, rigid, and bossy. And he’s returned from his final tour of duty more than a little broken. Rome’s used to filling many roles: big brother, doting son, supersoldier—but none of those fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the dark demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer through it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes a blinding flash of color in a sea of gray.Perfect may not be in the cards, but perfectly imperfect could just last forever . . .
REVIEW:
Let me tell you, I have waited a long time to read this book. Months of waiting and having the time to finally deal with Rome because I knew once I started I wouldn’t be able to stop because this my friends is Jay Crownover. This woman is a literary genius who has me feeling every emotion, and every trial and tribulation of these wonderfully written characters. I wish they weren’t characters, I wish they were real because if they were, my *ss would be on a flight to Denver faster than you could blink.
I have been on this journey with these characters since the beginning, Rule. To be able to watch them grow, fall in love, and find the happily-ever-afters they all so rightfully deserve is what makes these books so worth while. I love the complexity and blend of these characters. Rome is all rough edges, emotional trauma, and gray. Cora is a rainbow of colors, sass, and attitude. I love Cora, she is strong, sassy, and independent.
I love theses characters, I am hooked and Jay’s books are a drug. There was a twist, okay, there were several twists that I wasn’t expecting and its awesome to see how these characters deal with curve-balls and danger. Seriously, just go get her books, you won’t be disappointed!
FAVORITE QUOTE:
Relationships are not tailor-made and people are flawed. You have to work around that and love the other person anyway. Our flaws are what make us unique, and while Rule might not be perfect, he is absolutely perfect for me.
