This book is your typical second-chance romance. Girl and guy are in love, something traumatic happens and they are separated, then years later they get back together. So that being said there were things I liked about this book and things I didn’t. The synopsis and cover are stunning, they definitely pull you in. So my main problem with this book was the intimate scenes felt so awkward to me. The flow between life and intimacy was not fluid and the way the guy acted in the bedroom did not match his actual personality. It felt like there was a disconnect. So Lea would be sobbing her eyes out one second and then Austin would have her in bed and talking dirty to her the next page. Awkward…
Otherwise, Lea carries around grief like it is a second skin which I am torn between finding endearing and annoying. Then the book ends with children and my biggest problem with this is the kids just happened, no big deal. She didn’t have children until she was in her mid-late 30s, which would be classified as high risk pregnancies with frequent doctor visits and the risk of complications. This bothered me, I felt like the author didn’t think the age through or do the proper research. For me this book was just simply meh.
