Review: Breathe, Annie, Breathe by Miranda Kenneally
Annie hates running. No matter how far she jogs, she can’t escape the guilt that if she hadn’t broken up with Kyle, he might still be alive. So to honor his memory, she starts preparing for the marathon he intended to race.
But the training is even more grueling than Annie could have imagined. Despite her coaching, she’s at war with her body, her mind—and her heart. With every mile that athletic Jeremiah cheers her on, she grows more conflicted. She wants to run into his arms…and sprint in the opposite direction. For Annie, opening up to love again may be even more of a challenge than crossing the finish line.
REVIEW:
I had a sweet spot for this book but maybe that is because I am a runner. I really enjoyed this book and it was a refreshing but not overly emotional read. The book was about so much more than Annie running a marathon, its about battling injuries, battling your mind, overcoming guilt and grief, and finding out who you are.
Early on in the book a scene happens that I didn’t necessarily agree with but I understand why it was needed, to show the extreme amounts of guilt Annie has. The book had me giggling, smiling, and feeling proud of Annie. She really transformed over the course of the story and it kind of taught me that maybe I should try living in the now instead of constantly thinking ahead. I love books that make me think.
