So I am just going to dive into the brutal honesty of this review and say this book fell short for me. Monica Murphy is a phenomenal contemporary romance author, I love her work…usually. I don’t know if its a combination of not feeling New Adult romances lately or if its the story itself but I couldn’t connect to these characters. I found Lucy to be fickle and inconsistent; she would be worried about her insecurities one second and then throwing caution to the wind the next. I think my biggest struggle was I just couldn’t relate to the characters.
I found the constant ups and downs of their relationship annoying as opposed to endearing. I just wasn’t feeling the story at all, I more so felt like I was re-reading Shep and Jade’s story, which Gabe points out! Gabe says throughout the story how much in common their relationship has with Shep and Jade’s. I was hoping for something more unique and was left disappointed.
