One word to describe this book, unique. This book was so different from anything I have come across in YA, from the relationships, to the plot. I never saw the plot twist coming, I thought there were two alternative worlds and instead they were really one. It was a trick of the mind, a trick on my mind. The book drew me in and kept me wanting to read. I wanted to know more, I wanted to find out what was going to happen, needed to figure out what was going to happen next.
The characters are complex and whimsical. They are not what you expect, this book was not what I expected. The relationships among the characters are different and while at some point I questioned the logic of them, they seemed perfect. In the end, I found myself rooting for the relationships that the author wrote. Mysterious, haunting, and spooky, a completely unique book.
