SYNOPSIS:

But it’s not going to be smooth sailing. After the Destiny breaks down, all of Liza’s best-laid plans start to go awry. Liza likes to think of herself as an expert at almost everything, but when it comes to love, she’s about to find herself lost at sea.

This book was a whimsical, playful, slightly overly complicated read. I found Liza to be an extremely relate-able character, she is of a take on the world mindset. I love that in a character but I also hate it because I see so much of that reflected in myself. Try to take away my band, she will win money and save the day, Liza is the hero of her own story. She is a planner and perfectionist, and I think most of us know one these kind of people…or we are one.
Obviously, this story takes place in high school so it is filled with your typical teenage drama. Oh that is my ex-best friend who is now both my arch-nemesis and rival. Oh I have a crush on a boy, of course my ex-best friend does too. There is your typical drama there and what is the start of a love triangle but it is really just a lack of communication among the characters…oh to be in high school again…NOT!
The secondary-characters were phenomenal and I wished we would have got to see more of them and really see them develop as characters. I would have also loved to have more of a background and seen the development of Liza’s parents. Basically, some parts of the story left me wanting more. Maybe remove some teen angst and add some of these awesome secondary characters? While the book wasn’t terribly emotional, it was a nice and relatively quick read.

Based on your review, I’m thinking this would be a great read for a time when I don’t want to delve too deep into a story, but need to lighten up. Thanks for the honest and detailed comments.
