REVIEW:
This book was everything…EVERYTHING! I loved this book so much that words cannot describe it. The book was sheer magical perfection. The settings intoxicating and exotic, the characters enchanting and captivating, and the story line mysterious and mystical. There is a huge plot twist, an unexpected turn the story takes that I had no idea it was coming and it literally left me with my jaw hanging on the floor. This is the rare type of story that comes along and it changes you and moves you, I am so happy I stumbled upon this story because it is definitely one I will listen to over and over again.
Katsa is strong and determined and Po is the perfect counter to her. Oh, sweet, sweet, swoon worthy Prince Po who had me in tears several times throughout the story. My heart yearns for him, he was just absolutely perfect, in every way, broken and whole. For some reason marriage is heavily focused on but by the end of the story I understand why Katsa is against it and 2 people are more than capable of being together without the definition of marriage, especially when marriages mean females relinquish all control of their lives. Seriously I can’t get over Po, I think I am going to have a book boyfriend hang over from him. He is dreamy, swoon-worthy perfection.
The story was really well written and the ending provided me with enough satisfaction that I could read the next book because I definitely want to hear all about Bitterblue but there was no cliffhanger. I was happy with the turns Po’s life was taking and where he was going. I was happy with the path of Katsa’s life and maybe in time women in this society will have more of a say. I am going to enjoy every minute of this book hangover.
