Review: Tone Deaf by Olivia Rivers

The only downfall of this book is that I wanted more! Tone Deaf was an extremely quick read that left me with a smile on my face and hope in my heart. Tone Deaf is a special book for several reason, first off I am extremely familiar with the struggles of abuse and secondly, I went to a college that specializes in ASL and I have several deaf/hard-of-hearing friends. Both these issues are touchy topics to breach in a book and Olivia Rivers did so with eloquence, grace, and adequate research.
Ali is a strong, resilient young lady and to watch her grow as a character throughout the book was inspiring. Jace is sweet, caring, and so broken that I wanted to hug both of these characters and never let them go. They deserve nothing but love and happiness. The story also speaks volumes for being able to accept the hand life has dealt you but not let that hand define you as a person. Both Jace and Ali, struggled and overcame their own demons, a little to fast for me but that is just because I am greedy and want more!
The secondary characters truly make this book! Killer and Arrow are awesome! I could not have imagined a more perfect duo to add the needed flare, sass, and spice to this story. From Arrows skepticism to Killers caring personality they made it so easy to fall for them. Jon was sweet and adorable and when he said he was shy around girls I could have died from the swoon. Too cute! Again, the story ended a little too fast for me but the message is prevailing, hope, courage, and love can be found where you least expect it.
