Review: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.
What Lou doesn’t know is she’s about to lose her job or that knowing what’s coming is what keeps her sane.
Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he’s going to put a stop to that.
What Will doesn’t know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they’re going to change the other for all time.
REVIEW:
Be still my fragile heart. Will Traynor has absolutely captivated, captured, and shattered my heart. I have been warned by several friends to expect all the feels and sob-fest. I thought I was strong enough…I was so wrong…SO WRONG! I can’t even accurately describe how enchanting and hauntingly beautiful this story was. The beginning starts off a little slow; however, I was determined it would improve and it did.
Lou Clark is quirky, silly, and witty. I don’t know if I can accurately describe my infatuation with Will, I promised myself I wouldn’t cry when I typed up this review and just thinking about this story has my eyes misting…damn you Moyes. Will was selfish and selfless, he was charming and and arse, he was truly perfect…I honestly cannot sum up how perfect he was. Lou and Will have a dynamic relationship, where their personalities clash in wondrous bickering and bleed together in silent understanding.
Now lets get down to the nitty-gritty. I cried for the entire last 14% of the story. Moyes doesn’t deliver the HEA you want but she delivers the ending that is needed, regardless of how gutted it leaves the reader. And it left me with a giant, gaping hole in my chest where my heart once resided. I was honestly crying so hard I had to stop reading because I couldn’t see. Several times, my boyfriend turned around and asked if I was okay. My eyes were bloodshot by the end of this story…just to accurately portray how gutted I was. I am going to have a book hang over for weeks, easily. This is an absolute must read!
