REVIEW:
Oh Maxon….le swoon. If you haven’t noticed by now, The Selection Series has taken over my life. Maxon has taken over my life. I loved getting inside Maxon’s head and you could really get a feel for his thought process as well as for his feelings. After reading The Elite, I started to question Maxon and was truly worried that he was a complete fraud; however, this novella reassured me that he is a genuine, caring, sweet type of guy.
I the audio book was quick but I found myself bored at times since it is essentially a retelling of the first several chapters of The Selection but from Maxon’s point of view. I think I would have personally liked to see a little more development of Maxon with his parents, what kind of relationship do they have. I wanted to hug Maxon because it seems he has forever been desperate for his father’s approval and acceptance, something I can relate to all too well. I think this is why I find myself so easy to sympathize with Maxon and so quick to forgive his short comings, I simply relate to him the most…or it could be my crush, either way this was an adorable read on his first thoughts on America.
