I keep trying to start this review, but words cannot accurately describe the truly magical journey this series has been. The Lost Codex was the perfect wrap up to The Collectors’ Society and while it breaks my heart and brings tears to my eyes to see one of my favorite series end, Heather did a phenomenal job with this last book. The Lost Codex was tantalizing, captivating, and had me enchanted down to the last word.
Alice and Finn have come so far, and to see the sacrifices made throughout this story broke me. I was enthralled, at 37% my trust for everyone is gone, I trust Alice and Alice alone. The librarian is not trustworthy, my beloved Finn is not trustworthy and I am slowly losing my faith in the society. At 44% Heather slaps in a plot twist that I am still reeling from, I had to momentarily pause because it was truly an oh sh*t moment. At 50%, I am wondering how Heather is going to wrap this up nicely because everything is falling apart. The last 20% had me death gripping the Kindle, my heart could not handle it! MY HEART STILL CAN’T HANDLE IT! I was a mess of emotion, I was drowning in them. Ah, who am I kidding I am still drowning in them.
To put it lightly, this story was perfection. I want to be submerged in this wonderful land and never, ever leave. I just love it. Alice is an inspiring character, resilient, resourceful, and determined. Finn is everything, charming, witty, and the perfect counter to Alice. Together they are my north stars. The ending ultimately left me with a smile on my face, thank you librarian…you crazy b*tch…thank you. I don’t think my heart could be any fuller if it tried.
