Audio Review: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling

SYNOPSIS:

Harry Potter is lucky to reach the age of thirteen, since he has already survived the murderous attacks of the feared Dark Lord on more than one occasion. But his hopes for a quiet term concentrating on Quidditch are dashed when a maniacal mass-murderer escapes from Azkaban, pursued by the soul-sucking Dementors who guard the prison. It’s assumed that Hogwarts is the safest place for Harry to be. But is it a coincidence that he can feel eyes watching him in the dark, and should he be taking Professor Trelawney’s ghoulish predictions seriously?

REVIEW:

I am absolutely loving these audio-books and this is my favorite one in the Harry Potter series yet. Harry is really coming into his own and along with finding his rebellious streak, I find him to be rather cheeky and sassy…and I love it. Hermione is really learning that good and bad are not so black and white and to see each character grow has been enchanting. Hogwarts is captivating and the Dementors are even more fearful than I imagined.

There were several tender moments that were shared between Remus and Harry and Sirius and Harry that had me smiling with joy. Its obvious that they both love Harry and care deeply about him. You also start to see bits of doubt in Harry, where he questions what kind of person he truly is. It is exciting to see him work through these personal battles as well as differences in opinions among his friends. The ending of the book, with Harry’s conversation with Dursleys had me in fits of giggles, too funny. I can’t wait to listen to the next.
