Audio Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
SYNOPSIS:
Harry Potter is midway through both his training as a wizard and his coming of age. Harry wants to get away from the pernicious Dursleys and go to the International Quidditch Cup with Hermione, Ron, and the Weasleys. He wants to dream about Cho Chang, his crush (and maybe do more than dream). He wants to find out about the mysterious event that supposed to take place at Hogwarts this year, an event involving two other rival schools of magic, and a competition that hasn’t happened for hundreds of years. He wants to be a normal, fourteen-year-old wizard. But unfortunately for Harry Potter, he’s not normal – even by wizarding standards.
And in his case, different can be deadly.
REVIEW:
The movie does not do this book justice in any way, shape, or form. This was really a coming of age novel for Harry, Hermione, and Ron. There was so much character development and they are really starting to shape their unique personalities, grow the strengths, and determine their own moral standings. I loved everything about this book and so far it is hands down my favorite.
My dislike of Snape grows with each word uttered but I am concerned for the next book for I am finding my hatred for characters is much stronger in the book format than in the movie format and we all know I loathe Umbridge…but moving on. I love the glimpses of Harry’s growing relationship and bond with Sirius and it warms my heart to know that he is finally getting the family he deserves between the Weasleys and Sirius. Hermione and Ron’s growing feelings are also put to the test from both sides as their is growing affection and attraction.
I loved the change and tone of the book and you know things are certainly going to get harder but seeing the characters determination and courage is inspiring for what is to come in the next several books. The stakes are higher and will only continue to grow as the power of Lord Voldemort does. I cannot wait to see how the next book compares!
