Review: Finding It by Cora Carmack

SYNOPSIS:

Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find where you truly belong…

Most girls would kill to spend months traveling around Europe after college graduation with no responsibility, no parents, and no-limit credit cards. Kelsey Summers is no exception. She’s having the time of her life . . . or that’s what she keeps telling herself.

It’s a lonely business trying to find out who you are, especially when you’re afraid you won’t like what you discover. No amount of drinking or dancing can chase away Kelsey’s loneliness, but maybe Jackson Hunt can. After a few chance meetings, he convinces her to take a journey of adventure instead of alcohol. With each new city and experience, Kelsey’s mind becomes a little clearer and her heart a little less hers. Jackson helps her unravel her own dreams and desires. But the more she learns about herself, the more Kelsey realizes how little she knows about Jackson.

REVIEW:

I am having mixed feelings with this story, and while I didn’t fall head over heels for it, I did enjoy the read. I think my greatest struggle was that I didn’t love Kelsey as a person, nor did I think she received the help she so desperately needed. My initial thoughts on Kelsey was she is a spoiled brat and I wanted to tell her to get over herself. As her story progress I realize she has issues, things that should be discussed in therapy. I realize that writing therapy into books is a taboo subject but just saying you will fall in love and that will fix everything doesn’t help anyone.

I enjoyed the intoxicating locations, the endless travel destinations, and the vivid imagery Cora created throughout this story. Jackson is all the wonderful things I want rolled up into one sexy character. I honestly think he is the reason kept on reading because while I wasn’t a fan of Kelsey’s personality, I was definitely a fan of all things Jackson. The ending was also kind of abrupt and left me with unanswered questions, what about Kelsey’s parents, Bliss and their friendship, Jackson’s job? There were so many questionable variables left as I closed the page that I wanted more to just wrap up all the loose ends.

Overall, the story didn’t do it for me. It took me several months to finish the book and I just wanted more, I wanted Kelsey to grow as a character and I wanted the million questions I had at the end wrapped up into a nice final chapter.
