Review: Keep by Rachel Van Dyken
My name’s shouted on rooftops.
It’s written on bras, bathroom stalls, hell my name is everywhere. To say my name is to experience an orgasm without ever leaving your house.
My name?
Zane “Saint” Andrews.
I’m sex.
I’m a rock god.
I’m also a virgin.
What they don’t know won’t kill them right? Give the people what they want. And what they want is the idea of me; the pleasure they gain at listening to my song and knowing without a doubt I’m talking about them and only them.
It worked for a while.
Until a nerdy girl with glasses falls at my feet, literally, and suddenly I don’t want to be Saint anymore, what I want? What I really need?
Is to be kept.
By her.
REVIEW:
This book gave me so many feels…Zane gave me so many feels. I was in love with Zane, I connected and related to him so much my heart hurt. Not only is he swoon-worthy, he is battling demons, the kind that chase you and haunt your dreams in the dark and he is drowning in them. I was drowning with him, lost in the sea and never surfacing. Then there is Fallon, she is such a cute, feisty, pint-sized package. There love is quick and fierce and it tore me apart before it put me back together.
The secondary characters are phenomenal, they really make the story. I think this is where Rachel Van Dyken excels as a writer, she is not only capable of writing relate-able characters, she writes families that you feel apart of. These families are your own and they burrow under you skin, their pain is your pain and their joy is your joy. I also adored how she gave a shout out to her Mafia Series in this book because y’all know that sh*t is my jam! She had me tearing up, cheering the characters on, and sighing as I closed my Kindle and that is all I really need in a good story.
I really cannot say enough about Zane being vulnerable and struggling…it is inspiring to see him face his challenges and fears but at the same time enjoyable because for once the female isn’t the damsel. Zane and Fallon’s roles are reversed from typical romances and these type of out of the box characters are what draws me in and captivates me, just go read the damn book!
