Review: One Tiny Lie by K.A. Tucker
SYNOPSIS:
Livie has always been the stable one of the two Cleary sisters, handling her parents’ tragic death and Kacey’s self-destructive phase with strength and maturity. As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go of her last promise to her father and, with it, the only identity that she knows.
REVIEW:
This book blew the first book out of the water! I think I have a spiritual connect with Livie, I resonate with her as a character so very much. Her perfectionist mentality and coping with “letting other’s down” got straight under my skin and took up residency. I know her story all to well because it is one of my own and I too, cracked. Ashton is all the feels over and over again. I don’t know why but these two have taken up residency in my heart and I simply couldn’t put the book down.
This novel is the perfect coming of age novel, where you are truly entering your college years and your innocent, naive bubble called life is popped. There were so many moments where I was giggling and then K.A. Tucker would tug at my heartstrings all with a seamless transition. The flow of the novel was a perfect balance, and I got a dose of old and new secondary characters that I adore. The main one being Dr. Strayner, seriously…is he a real person because I want in.
Dr. Strayner is an out of the box, unique character and I truly love the light-hearted, tender aspect that K.A. Tucker treats therapy with. Not many authors can portray therapy in a positive light and many people don’t know that you don’t have to be on the brink of the end before getting help…sometimes people are ticking bombs and sometimes they aren’t even aware they might need help. A truly riveting novel that will be with me long after I close the pages.
