Review: At the Stroke of Midnight by Tara Sivec

SYNOPSIS:

Meet the Naughty Princess Club: a brand new series from USA Today bestselling author Tara Sivec that introduces readers to Fairytale Lane and the hilarity—and romance—that ensue when three women start a new business to make it rain.

Once upon a time Cynthia was the perfect housewife. Between being the President of the PTA and keeping her home spotless without a hair (or her pearls) out of place, her life was a dream come true. Her husband was once her knight in shining armor, but now he’s run off with all their money…and the babysitter.

Dressed as a princess at the annual Halloween block party on Fairytale Lane, she meets two other “princesses” also facing money troubles: antique store owner Ariel and librarian Isabelle. When the women are invited to wear their costumes to a party where they’re mistaken for strippers, Cindy, Ariel, and Belle realize that a career change could be the best way to make their money problems go bippity-boppity-boo.

But can structured Cindy approach a stripper pole without sanitizing wipes? And could the blue-eyed anti-prince that has been crossing her path become Cindy’s happily ever after? At the Stroke of Midnight is a hilarious, empowering story where princesses can save themselves while slaying in stilettos.

REVIEW:

This book was hilarious, such a fun and witty retelling with a unique spin. I couldn’t keep the smile or blush off my face. The story line was enchanting and I already have the next book on my Kindle waiting for me because I can’t get enough of Cindy, Belle, and Ariel. From Cindy being a prude, to Ariel’s lack of a filter, and Belle’s innocence mixed with brash decisions, this rag-tag team had me in a fit of giggles throughout the entire book.

As these women embark on their careers as strippers, they also embark on a journey to find themselves. Cindy especially whose ex truly did a number on her. But then cue, the handsome, swoony, brooding PJ…I can’t even guys, he gave Cindy and me all the feels. I just could gush about him all day, he was perfection. Cindy really develops and comes into her own through this book and I was here for it! I loved how she started out insecure and uptight but by the end was a free spirit, ready to kick-*ss and take names. Cindy and PJ were the definition of slow burn and I was ready to combust because they were scorching up my Kindle!

I just have so many fuzzy feels! Who would have thought a book about women starting a stripper business would have me a giddy mess?! Ariel is by far my favorite of the group just because she is so crass and truly says whatever the h*ll she wants. I can’t wait to see Belle come out of her shell. But honestly, I was smiling the entire time I was reading this, and if I wasn’t it was because I was blushing and shaking my head in embarrassment. The crazy situations these women find themselves in has me begging for more, an absolute must read!
