Review: Bennett Mafia by Tijan

SYNOPSIS:

There were always whispers about my roommate at Hillcrest Academy.

The wealthiest of the wealthy sent their kids to our boarding school, and Brooke Bennett had been at the top, though I never quite knew why. She was fun and outgoing, but she kept quiet about her family. The only things she showed me were photographs of her brothers.

I became fascinated with her second-oldest brother. Kai Bennett.

He was the most of them all. Smoldering. Hypnotic. Alluring.
Kai had eyes that pulled me in and a face that haunted my dreams.

Then I met him.

He came to our school with their father, and that’s when I learned what kind of family Brooke came from. They were mafia, and Brooke’s oldest brother was dead. Her father said accident, but Brooke said murder.

Three months later, her father died, and Kai became the head of the Bennett Family. Brooke left Hillcrest for good, and that was the last time I saw her.

Fourteen years later, I’m staring at her face on the television. Brooke is missing.

Two days later, Kai Bennett kidnaps me.

REVIEW:

Guys this book was positively delicious, I read it in less than a day and I have re-read the ending several times because I can’t get enough. I am obsessed with mafia reads and in a surprise twist, this was my first Tijan book but I am happy to say it won’t be my last. I think Tijan wrote this book to Taylor Swift’s I Knew You Were Trouble song because that perfectly fits Kai and Riley.

The book started off a little hard to get into, as it was jumping to present day and various times throughout the past but once I felt that out I was hooked. The fast paced plot had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put my Kindle down, I had to know what was going to happen. This book was filled with all the typical things I love about the mafia, crime, deception, betrayal, violence, and plenty of sexy times.

But the real star of this story is Kai Bennett, mafia king, sex god, alpha male. Kai’s enigmatic personality drew Riley in like a moth to a flame. And if she thought 10 years passing would change her attraction to him, she thought wrong. I loved how strong of a character Riley was, she was determined and loyal to a fault. The fight scenes were action packed, some leaving me gasping and others leaving me needing a cold shower. Tijan knows how to write steamy scenes and she does it oh so well.

As the story unravels and Kai and Riley grow closer, things heat up! Lives are lost, so many lives are lost but all is fair in love and mafia. The secondary characters add so much more depth to the story and helped transport me into this world even more. There was a point around 70-80% where I was gravely concerned as to how things were going to wrap up because it wouldn’t be mafia if at some point everything didn’t go to sh*t. But Tijan patched me back together after ripping my heart out. If you love mafia, this is a must read.
