Review: An Instant Connection by Melanie Moreland
A chance meeting. An instant connection. Mitch and Mandy burn hot, but when the smoke clears, and things get real, can their feelings stay strong?
This story is a stand-alone with no cliffhanger.
REVIEW:
Okay, I have to disclaimer this before I get into the review of the story, the female narrator for this book was horrid, she sounded like a chronic, chain-smoking, Minne Mouse. Seriously, I almost didn’t listen to the book because the voice is just so d*mn cringy.
Moving on the Melanie Moreland and this book, which is another new author introduction courtesy of the Read Me Romance podcast. Mitch and Mandy had the classic insta-love story, I liked and appreciated that they acknowledged how crazy it was. It made the whole story more believe-able. The first introduction; however, was more of a meet aggressive and pushy and not a meet-cute. Mitch was really up in Mandy’s case, wouldn’t take no for an answer, and while I think the author was going for endearing, it came out as a put off.
As there relationship develops, while they do learn a few quirks about each other, I never truly fall into the relationship. After sex, they seem ready to declare their love and sail off into the sunset. Mitch seems to continue to be pushy, assertive and over-the-top in his quests for Mandy’s heart. What I imagine was meant to be all alpha was all too much for me. I found myself instantly disconnected from this story.
In the end, the plot twist, wasn’t surprising and while I was left with an HEA, I found Mandy to be a fickle, push-over. These characters poor behavior has me believing they deserve to be together. Overall, this was a miss for me on the podcast this week.
