Review: Trapping Her by Aurora Rose Reynolds

SYNOPSIS:

After the night of his wedding, a night in which his beloved was murdered Camron Campbell has chosen to spend hundreds of years alone never even imagining the idea of finding another.

Then Isabel Newport, an American woman, walks right into his life through the front door of his castle.

Feelings long forgotten are brought back to life.

Camron tries to control the craving he has for Isabel, but after one stolen kiss he knows it would be impossible to deny their connection.

To have her, to hold her, to keep her is not going to be easy especially when vampires aren’t supposed to exist and humans aren’t allowed to be their mates.

But having spent hundreds of years without his beloved he will do everything to keep her at his side.

REVIEW:

Aurora Rose Reynolds has been on my hesitant to read list for a long time. I heard of her before, as we all know I love a good PNR, but everything I’ve heard and read have been mixed. Some loved her work and some hated it so I was excited to see her on the Read Me Romance podcast for this week. I could finally get a sample of her work…only I still feel on the fence about it.

On one hand, I loved how effortless the relationship between Isabel and Camron is. Their affection and passion feels real and tangible. But it all happened too fast for me. It was instantaneous and they both suddenly knew that it was meant to be. And while I get the whole soul mates, fated lovers thing, I didn’t feel like Isobel was accepting of that. It sort of felt like Camron forced that upon her and she just agreed. I would have liked to see Isobel have a come to terms with their history moment.

While it does give me a happily for now, meaning that sh*t is definitely going to go down in the future but for now the characters can ride off into the sunset, I wasn’t satisfied. The whole reason Isabel came to Camron’s house was for work. Could Aurora have written her peacing-the-fuck outta her job? What about the prophecy? This seems like the prelude to a long *ss series. Like here is what will happen and a taste of the drama to come but no idea if all the follow up work will be written.

Unfortunately…this all still leaves me on the fence with Aurora Rose Reynolds. While I enjoyed the story, I am still not really a fan of HFN and I hate books that leave so much left open at the ending. I want answers and closure regardless of the paranormal aspect.
