Review: American Squire by Sierra Simone
Former presidential aide Ryan Belvedere has been drifting in a fog of misery ever since his president was killed, but he reluctantly agrees to do a favor for a friend—fetching a rare book from a crumbling manor house in England. There he meets Sidney Blount—cold, sophisticated, Dominant—who’s at the same house to appraise the family art. It doesn’t take Sidney long to appraise Ryan too, and decide exactly what Ryan needs. Which just so happens to be the one thing Sidney wants to give…
REVIEW:
I actually, really enjoyed this quick little read! This was my first Sierra Simone book; raunchy, steamy, and with the perfect amount of swoon. I was a giggling and blushing mess in my office. Ryan and Sidney are delicious; the perfect balance of hard and soft, harsh and tender.
I liked that the story wasn’t insta-love and the characters admit that they want time to see if that could happen. Finally, a more realistic pace to a relationship. While their attraction was undeniable and the chemistry between them was palpable, it really seemed like fate brought them together. And although Sidney seemed like an ice king, his words were all the swoon.
In fact, I think my only complaint is that I want more. That ending was absolute perfection. Ryan is the perfectly aloof and adrift character to make changes. He has flexibility and no one to hold him in place. Whereas, Sidney has everything he wants except someone by his side. It was just a delicious listen, I was never bored, the pacing was good and it had everything I wanted.
