Blog Tour/Review: Fake Date by Monica Murphy
Working at Bliss Lingerie, Sarah Harrison deals with all sorts of—interesting clientele. Yet no one sparks her interest more than Jared Gaines, the ultra-rich, ultra-sexy businessman who frequents her shop, buying delicate little “gifts” for the women in his life.
But one day, Jared sends her a gift from Bliss. Then another—and another. So when Sarah walks into his office demanding to know why he can’t stop sending her gifts, he makes her an offer she somehow can’t refuse: be his fake girlfriend for the weekend while attending his brother’s engagement party.
Next thing Sarah knows, she’s in San Francisco, pretending to be in love with Jared. Not that it’s a hardship. Once you get the man away from the office, he’s much more relaxed. Sweet. Funny. Even…thoughtful? Oh, and sexier than ever, of course.
Their pretend relationship feels very real, very quickly. Soon Sarah’s in over her head. Could what she and Jared share turn into something real? Or is it all actually…fake?
REVIEW:
*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*
This book everything I wanted in a romantic comedy! Quirky characters, plenty of angst and tension, laugh out loud moments that left me with a cheesy grin, sprinkled with moments that left me blushing like a fool. This book was the perfect balance of playful and harsh with brutal honesty and strong characters, I couldn’t put it down.
Sarah and Jared are the perfect match. They go head-to-head and I love that as things ramp up, neither is willing to back down. The hate-flirting was the most seductive type of foreplay. Their sexual chemistry was off the charts and had me combusting before the first kiss, talk about a slow-burn! Both characters are determined, focused, and driven…they will stop at nothing to get what they want, except when they want each other. I love these types of romances where the characters are enemies to lovers. Their witty banter and sassy remarks had me smiling non-stop.
I devoured this book in one sitting, it had that magic that sucks you into the story. I was there, watching everything play out and on the edge of my seat with anticipation. The dramas were just enough to support the story but not drown out the romance. I am still smiling as I type this review. Jared and Sarah were just the perfect match, they had me swooning, sighing, and giggling.
The secondary characters are a delight. Sarah’s friend group…I want them all to have a story and a happily ever after. The story was just all the warm fuzzy feels! I want to hug my Kindle and carry around the happiness from these characters all day. But most importantly, I can’t wait to read the next book!
