Review: Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey

SYNOPSIS:

This unlikely getaway driver never expected to help the mayor escape…

After a six-year absence, Addison Potts is back in Charleston to stir things up. And what better place to make her villainous return than her estranged cousin’s wedding? Only, the nuptials hit a snag when the bride doesn’t show, leaving Addison to play getaway driver for the jilted groom. A groom whose heartbreaking smile and deep, southern drawl she should not be noticing…

Elijah Montgomery Du Pont is the future mayor of Charleston. From his military career to city hall, every detail of his life has been meticulously planned. Until now. His only respite from life’s sudden upheaval is Addison, his new, improbable best friend. She makes him happy. Grounds him. And public disapproval be damned, he’s not willing to give her up. But with an election on the line and public pressure rising, Addison—and the cruel hand of fate—might not give him a choice.

REVIEW:

This salacious, scandalous book left me speechless in the best way possible. I am always playing catch up with Tessa Bailey’s books and I finally decided it’s time to dive into this series and let me just say, it might be the steamiest book I’ve ever read. Seriously, I am blushing just thinking about the words I read, I don’t know how Tessa writes these things without combusting!

So lets start off with Addison, my heart went out to her, she was not dealt an easy hand and small town life has done her no favors. The sins of her mom are basically held over her head by old, rich, awful people. But the girl has sass, wit, and determination and this fire is what draws Elijah in like a moth to a flame. Elijah is all the swoon, seriously, he is drop dead gorgeous. I mean the man’ s *ss has a Twitter account, what’s not to love. But as him and Addison become friends, they both learn they are kindred spirits and are harboring feelings for each other. Cue to slow-burn, angst, and sexual tension.

When things finally come to a head…well Lord, please forgive me, for I have sinned. I didn’t think I could blush more when reading a Tessa Bailey book butt (pun intended), here we are. The raunchy sex scenes had me turning into a tomato and dying a thousand deaths. Sexy and sensual, these two tempt each other and push each other…both in the bedroom and in life. For real those, Tessa outdid herself with the sex in this book, I can’t stress how filthy, dirty, and hot it was.

Moving on…I love that the plot was really just a giant miscommunication and how much Elijah and Addison just needed to use their words. When the story came to a climax, I wanted to hug my Kindle because, Elijah really knows all the right things to say. These two are just stupidly adorable together. I didn’t want to put my Kindle down, the banter was sprinkled with the perfect amount of sarcasm and attitude. It was just a d*mn good romance book. And now that I have survived this book…I am off to read the next!
