Review: Working It by Riley Hart & Devon McCormack

SYNOPSIS:

After his boyfriend dumps him, Hayden is in need of a place to live. Thanks to his buddies, he has a great lead to room with a guy named Cody in Metropolis, the hottest condominium in town. But things get a little uncomfortable when Hayden shows up for the interview and discovers he and Cody share an awkward up close and personal experience from their past.

Cody doesn’t have a problem living with Hayden. He’s had his share of help when he was down and out, and he wants to do the same for this guy. It’s not long until Cody realizes how great it is having someone around. Sometimes, they watch movies together…and other times, they help get each other off–one of the perks of living with a guy who’s as laid back about sex as he is. They hit off so well Cody even decides to act as wingman for Hayden while he gets used to hitting the town again.

Before they know it, they’re spending more time with each other than with anyone else. But Hayden just got out of a relationship and should be spending his nights having fun and working it around town, not jumping into something serious again. Cody’s always just gone with the flow, believing if it’s meant to happen, it will. But life doesn’t always work that way, and if they don’t fight for what’s right in front of them, Hayden and Cody might be over before they have the chance to even get started.

REVIEW:

This might be the most salacious book I have ever read *fans-self* *dies from blushing* but it was a d*mn good story. All the steamy, dreamy stuff aside, the plot had me feeling all the feels. I was really intrigued by Cody after we meet him in Faking It so I was really excited to hear his story. Hayden was kind of a wild card character for me but after learning more about him, these two are just perfect for each other.

Hayden and Lance break up, thank the Lord because Lance is a piece of garbage that needs to be disposed of. Hayden finds himself a roommate and so much more in Cody. They have an awkward past encounter but more than that, they have undeniable chemistry. Seriously, as these two dance around each other for the first half of the book, the sexual tension is tangible. But more so than that, is they form a friendship first. They learn about each other and slowly, blindly begin falling for each other. *cue the swoon* They have so many tender moments and slowly begin to share their secrets with each other.

Each characters background was rough and watching them open up tore apart my heart. And there was honestly a moment where I had to read through the feels because it hit me hard but these two just make so much sense together and like the first book, the relationship is realistically paced. It is just so flawless how they tumble from roomies, to play buddies, to lovers. A seamless flow that carries into the plot and makes for a truly captivating read.

My heart goes out to sweet, little Derek as he has to watch both of his best friends fall in love but sit out from the sidelines, I am kind of looking forward to seeing what kind of man will be able to tame him. Gary and Travis are back, being all sorts of sweet and sexy and this book really solidifies that this rag-tag team is more than friends, they are family. A family that I will gladly join! *whispers please adopt me*
