Review: Henri by Ella Frank

SYNOPSIS:

Good and bad. Right and wrong.
Life would be easy if things were always that simple.
That’s never been the case for Henri Boudreaux.

Son of a criminal. Ex-boyfriend to a Priest.
Henri’s made a career out of getting in trouble and avoiding the law.
So when he winds up in bed with it, he knows that things are about to get…complicated.

But what’s life without taking a few risks?
And what’s a risk without the threat of being caught?
No one’s ever accused Henri of being good man.
And Officer Craig Bailey is about to find out just how bad he can be.

REVIEW:

I was ridiculously excited that Henri was getting his own story after he was introduced. As soon as I met Priest’s ex-boyfriend I was filled with giddy elation. Henri is the definition of bad boy and then when he gets involved with a cop, needless to say, I am a sucker for this troupe.

I loved that Henri was shrouded in mystery but as it seems, he is battling more demons than Priest was. It leaves me feeling rather anxious as to how this all going to play out at the end of the book. But from Henri’s first encounter with Officer Bailey, the sexual tension was insane. And then began a delicious slow-burn push-pull. These two together are like a match and gasoline and I was HERE. FOR. IT. What can I say, I love a bad boy, especially one with a dirty mouth..

Fast paced and excellently balanced, there were plenty of playful moments to level out the tangible sexual chemistry. You get glimpses into both character’s lives and pasts, which really helps identify how they tick. Priest and Henri have volatile encounters and the aftermath of these had my heart aching. With only one book left, I am not sure how Ella is going to be able to pull everything together.

But Henri and Bailey seem drawn to each other regardless of all that is stacked against. Henri’s past, Henri’s life, Bailey’s family…but a good boy like Bailey is truly the best thing for Henri. And that ending, ugh, these cliffhangers are starting to keep me up at night…
