Review: Lovers Like Us by Krista & Becca Ritchie

SYNOPSIS:

Twenty-seven-year-old Farrow Keene lives by his actions, and his actions say he’s the best at whatever he does. As a 24/7 bodyguard and the new boyfriend to Maximoff Hale, protecting the headstrong, alpha billionaire has never been more complicated. And one rule can’t be bent:

Keep your relationship secret from the public.

Farrow is confident he’s the best man for the job. But a twist in Maximoff’s fast-paced life sticks them with the rest of Security Force Omega and their clients.

On the road.
In a sleeper tour bus.
For four rocky months.

Sexual frustrations, check. Road trip drama, check. Awkward bonding, check.

But Farrow couldn’t have accounted for a high-risk threat (identity: unknown) that targets Maximoff before the ignition even turns. And it hits Farrow — someone has it out for the guy he loves.

Every day, Maximoff & Farrow’s feelings grow stronger, and together, they’ll either sink or swim.

The Like Us series is a true series, one continuous timeline, that follows a family of wealthy celebrities and the people that protect them. Book 1, Damaged Like Us, should be read before reading Lovers Like Us.

REVIEW:

I am fully obsessed with Maximoff and Farrow. The word obsessed does not even adequately describe how much I adore these two. Just like in the first book, their relationship is rock solid. They seem to grow more in love as the story progresses and it had my black heart swelling three sizes.

It’s been a long time since I have been so captivated by characters. They gel seamlessly and seem to be connected on a deeper level. Maximoff learns to fully let Farrow in and Farrow shares bits of his past with Maximoff. They become a stronger couple both outside the bedroom and in it. But I have to say, this book might have had one of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read. Honestly, just thinking about it has a blush rising on my face and neck. It was sizzling, scorching hot. The chemistry between Maximoff and Farrow was palpable.

This book also expanded on Maximoff’s relationships with his numerous cousins as well as Farrow’s relationships with the SFO. Not everyone is team Maximoff and tensions rise and fights happen. Maximoff’s brother, Xander, needs to be loved and protected from the worst in the world and he is by far the character I want to know more about. Maximoff’s cousin, Charlie, is also a mystery I am dying to solve. In contrast, Farrow and SFO are a true family and I loved how they accepted Maximoff into that fold.

The added threat was a plot twist I never saw coming. Honestly, I am still speechless after everything went down. The story line was just a masterpiece in balance, humor filled with brutal honesty and at the end I couldn’t help but fall more in love with this world.
