Review: Headstrong Like Us by Krista & Becca Ritchie

SYNOPSIS:

You’re cordially invited to the wedding of Maximoff Hale & Farrow Keene, and according to Celebrity Crush—the ceremony for this American prince and his tattooed bodyguard is going to be the event of the century.

There will be no wedding crashers.

Including but not limited to: hateful people, rabid fans, nosy paparazzi, and other so-called media.

There will be no drama.

None whatsoever. Because when you put three famous families and their hot bodyguards together, nothing will go down.

There will be no fighting.

No brawls, fists flying, verbal slingshots, or rifts that tear into craters. Lovers only!

Everything will be perfect.

Nothing will go amiss during the happiest, most anticipated occasion of the year. But then again…

They don’t call it the Hale Curse for nothing.

REVIEW:

I am just going to come out and say it, Marrow for life, I will go down with this ship. I am not even going to pretend I’m not to be obsessed with Maximoff and Farrow. I love how headstrong their relationship is. It’s such a refreshing twist to not see relationship drama carry a story. Instead, their relationship is rock solid and the drama can be found in rude Grandmas, misbehaving siblings and cousins, and the endless harassment from the paparazzi.

The love in this book is palpable, which shouldn’t come as a surprise with an upcoming wedding. Maximoff and Farrow are just perfect for each other and their endless passion had me swooning from one page to the next. There is just something so timeless and heartfelt about how assured they are in their love, that makes it so much more meaningful. My heart was soaring and even during the moments where I thought ‘these two can’t catch a break,’ they hold steadfast and weather the storms together. *wipes tears*

The family dynamic and drama adds another rich layer to the story. Maximoff and his dad finally have the heart-to-heart that has been five books in the making. Charlie is still a mystery I want to solve. Luna and Donnelly, well lets just say, I didn’t expect to be lured in by these two, but here I am dying to know how it will play out. Kinney and her teenage cousins needs a swift kick in the arse. But at the end of the day, it’s just a bunch of misfit secondary characters that add humor and solidify Marrow even more.

I love this couple and I am sad to see their story come to a close. But I couldn’t have imagined a better happily-ever-after for them. In fact, I am still grinning like an idiot over it. I am excited that we are going to derail from the family for the next book and we will get to see Oscar, the adorable bodyguard, lure in Jack, the ‘straight’ producer.
