Review: Blindsided by Eden Finley

SYNOPSIS:

Miller:
When Talon left to play pro ball six years ago, the hole in my chest confused me. I focused my heartache into making my own NFL dreams come true, and by the time I was drafted, the longing I had for my best friend was buried deep.

Now he wants everything to be like it was in college, but we can’t have threesomes and be reckless like we once were. The media storm would be enough to break both our careers.

That’s not my biggest concern though. The torch I had for him burns brighter after so long apart, and there’s nothing I can do about it. Marcus Talon is straight.

I need to stay away from him.

Talon:
Years ago, Miller and I made a pact that we’d win a Super Bowl together. When I’m offered a position on his team in Chicago, I don’t hesitate. I move across the country to chase a dream that’s a decade old.

Only, now that I’m here, he’s avoiding me every chance he gets. If he was anyone else, I’d cut my losses.

But this is Shane Miller–the guy who makes everything better just by existing in my universe. The guy I’d do anything for. The guy who’s more to me than a brother, a friend, or even a teammate.

I’m not going to let him get away.

REVIEW:

This might be my favorite friends-to-lovers book…ever. I usually find the troupe tiresome and repetitive but Eden Finley’s unique and refreshing twist on Miller and Talon had me endlessly swooning. Laugh-out-loud hilarity, blush-worthy banter, and sizzling chemistry had me smiling throughout the entire story. Honestly, they might be my favorite couple in the series.

The story was a delightful balance of romance, football, and life. You hear bits and pieces of Miller and Talon’s history together. They played football for 3 years, roommates for 2, and plenty of shared women between them. They occasionally even shared a bed, under the strict, unspoken rule that they don’t touch each other. Flash forward to present day where they haven’t really seen each other or talked in 6 years, but the close comradery they shared comes back instantaneously.

But the comradery is weighed down with tension. Miller has been pining for Talon for years. And Talon is straight, or so he thinks. Cue the slow burn and sexual tension. A lot of this story takes place over a distance but this gives both Miller and Talon time to sort out their feelings, identities, and what exactly they want in a relationship or friendship or whatever they have going on. This also resulted in Jackson walking in on an awkward scene or two, which had me crying from laughter.

When Miller and Talon finally get together, there were some seriously scorching hot sex scenes. I am blushing just thinking about them. Two rough and tough football players in bed together, you know its going to be so good. But my favorite part of this story was the last chapter which was so cute it felt like my Grinchy heart grew 3 sizes. There are so many appearances from the gang and I just love this big rag-tag team of misfits that fit together.
