Review: Hat Trick by Eden Finley
Soren:
You know what’s not fun? Going on a Fiji vacation with four other couples. Especially when recently single.
What’s even worse is when a past hook-up arrives unannounced.
Not only do we have a history, but he’s ten years younger and a famous rock star. Most importantly, he’s my friend’s little brother.
Being trapped on an island with Jet Jackson is going to be sweet torture because all I want is another chance.
I just don’t think he’s going to give it to me.
Jet:
You know what’s not fun? Escaping one guy who broke my heart only to run into another.
Being on the road for three years has left me exhausted. The last thing I want is for Caleb ‘Soren’ Sorensen to try for round two.
I can’t fight my draw to him. I’ve never been able to.
I’m suddenly back to being the naïve kid who stupidly lusted after a hockey player.
All I can think is if I let Soren get close, I’ll walk away from this vacation with a double broken heart.
REVIEW:
Age gap romances are usually not my thing, but after finishing Hat Trick, I might have to reconsider my stance on the troupe. There was just something about the tangible chemistry between Jet and Soren that had me hypnotized. And beyond the sexual tension, their snarky banter, blunt honesty, and passion had me laughing out loud and swooning.
Soren has been a unique character to follow. He was older and in some ways more mature. He was willing to make sacrifices and tough calls when it comes to his career. Jet has always been a fire-cracker but under all that bravado is a man looking for love. Their first encounter had me giggling and blushing. But the real fun happened after Soren learned that Jet was Matt’s younger brother.
Flash forward several years and these two meet again. And I was here for all the awkward tension, stiff conversations, and general stubbornness. It added a deeper connection between these characters and while their physical attraction to each other was instantaneous; the awkwardness allowed for Soren and Jet to get their feelings out. In turn, they start to fall for each other for real and it was honestly the sweetest romance, these two are just so cute. Soren is everything that Jet needs, even if Jet just mentions something in passing, Soren makes it happen. Jet shows his devotion in just the same manner.
While it did take them a long time to confess their true feelings, their actions spoke volumes! I just found myself hugging my Kindle as the story ends because if any of these men needed love the most, it was Jet. He was such a complicated, lonely character and to watch him find solace in Soren just gave me all the feels. It’s bittersweet coming to the end of the series, I am not ready for it to be over.
