Review: The Golden Rule by Miss Bonnett

SYNOPSIS:

James, a wizard matchmaker has one golden rule he lives by: NEVER DATE A WEREWOLF. James is part of a team that helps match all kinds of creatures in marriage from vampires, fairies to even the loneliest mermaid. James claims to be the expert of love and romance, but he’s given up on finding his own soulmate, still haunted by a love affair that ended in tragedy.

Then, the Alpha of his own pack, Eric Silva crashes into his life and James matches himself to the sullen werewolf, which goes against his golden rule! His only rule! Both men fight their urges and their growing feelings, too proud to put their differences aside. However, if James and Eric don’t lay down their defenses, they may miss out on their one chance at true love. It might even cost James his life.

REVIEW:

I am going to try something different here. I have been a long time webtoon reader on several different apps; however, I recently started to read the novels they also have available on these apps. And let me just say, there are some real hidden gems on there that the book world is missing out on!

This story was an absolute delight. Honestly it was so refreshing to find something so different. A M/M story with a ton of paranormal aspects, I dove in head first and devoured the entire book in a day. What more could I want then territorial werewolves, matchmaking oracles, half-fae besties, and vampire weddings?! Exactly, I want nothing more than these things!

James is absolutely adorable and I wanted to wrap him in a hug and never let go. In comparison, I loved how much of a brute Eric was. Their met cute was an epic disaster that had me laughing out loud. Once they realized they are meant to be, they still fought the string connecting them. Honestly, it probably took these two about 10 meet cutes before they finally got their sh*t together, and I was here for it! As time passes, they slowly begin to fall and I couldn’t help but swoon. These two were just so stupidly cute together. The sexy times were down right sizzling and the story flowed effortlessly. I loved how James and Eric built a deeper connection and even though James has a way of putting his foot in his mouth, he also was able to get the message across when needed.

There were some crazy tense scenes and loads of drama but the secondary characters really came through when push comes to shove. I loved the rag-tag team that both James and Eric surround themselves with. From Delphine being ridiculous and over the top to the elusive and mysterious Elias, I wanted to know more about them all! Eric’s family and pack were as chaotic and delightful as I hoped and the ending had me endlessly sighing with content. This was such a great story.
