Review: A Little Bit like Desire by Brooke Blaine

SYNOPSIS:

What if you had everything in the world you wanted…except the man you never knew you needed?

Shaw Jennings, the seductive, enigmatic owner of Body Electric Tattoo works hard and plays even harder. He’s built a life he’s proud of, and though that doesn’t include a significant other, he’s got plenty of sexy men to keep his bed warm at night. None of them have ever made Shaw sit up and take notice for long, though. But that all changes when a famous rock star walks through his door.

Trent Knox had the world in the palm of his hand as the lead singer of TBD, one of the biggest rock bands in history…until the day he walked away. A getaway to South Haven Island seems like the perfect place for Trent to find himself again and reignite his passion for music. But what he never expects is to find his muse in a six-five, tatted-up badass whose sinful smile he can’t get out of his mind.

The only problem? Trent’s a notorious womanizer, and Shaw isn’t interested in being someone’s experiment—muse or otherwise. But in a town as small as this one, Shaw is finding it more and more difficult to keep the persistent rocker at arm’s length.

As the tension between them builds, maybe it’s time to finally give in and get carried away with something a little bit like…desire.

REVIEW:

So I read the Fallen Angels series before this story. But to see the other half of the downfall of TBD was eye opening. It seems like Trent was essentially forced to conform and was so very unhappy. I adored watching him work through his doubts and find his own HEA.

Of course any good story is going to have Bash being a meddlesome bestie. The novel starts out hot and heavy with a sex party at Bash’s house. Honestly, at this point, I am dying for Bash’s story, the more I learn about this enigmatic character, the more I want to be inside his brain. But that party had me blushing something fierce in those first few chapters. And then the most epic slow-burn romances to begin.

I loved that Trent and Shaw seem to compliment each other so well. Over the course of the novel, these two get to know each other on a deeper level while letting the endless sexual tension between simmer till a breaking point. Trent works through his departure from the band and finds his confidence and his own voice. While Shaw has his own revelations over the course of the book. But for the most part, these two were witty conversations, innuendos, all the giggle-worthy moments, and an effortless connection.

This light-heartedness added a playful factor to the book and had me breezing through the novel in no time. The only pet peeve I have is that I don’t think the synopsis accurately reflects the story. Trent isn’t exactly a womanizer, he is only viewed as one by the media. And Shaw gets clarity on that fairly early on in the book. Otherwise, this was a fluffy, sexy rock-star romance.
