Review: Treble Maker by Annabeth Albert
SYNOPSIS:

Cody Rivers wants to be a music star. And this a cappella singing competition could be his best, last chance to make it happen. However, his punk style and rocker attitude don’t exactly fit in with the world of clean-cut, wholesome a cappella groups or reality music TV shows. REVIEW:
This was super cute, quick read. It honestly made me want to watch the Pitch Perfect movies again. I loved the deep contrast between characters, the light drama, and the most adorable HEA.
Lucas and Cody are complete opposites. But what was the saying…oh yes, opposites attract and boy do they ever here. Lucas essentially gets thrown under the bus by his own team and then thrown into Cody’s team. Now that the two have to live together and work together, it’s time for Lucas to face some hard truths. This story was as much a light-hearted romance as it was a journey for Lucas to accept himself.
Lucas was judgmental, rude, out yet closeted, and generally didn’t really know who he was at the beginning of the story. After stepping away from his parents (still on the fence with my feels there) and his school, he does some soul searching and listens to many hard truths (thanks Cody) and comes into his own. Cody in comparison learns to open his heart again after being burned so many times and realizes that maybe the world doesn’t have to revolve around him, but it would be great if it did.
Were there plenty of steamy moments, absolutely. Cody and Lucas were a delightful slow-burn that build up both in intimacy and emotions over the course of the story. There was some drama but for the most part it was a fun, playful read. It’s the type of story that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling in your chest and a smile on your face.
