Review: New Horizons by Hailey Turner

SYNOPSIS:

First do no harm.

Trevor Sanchez left behind a life of war with Alpha Team for a future in medicine. Pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor, Trevor doesn’t have much time for anything other than studying for the next exam in his accelerated medical school. When the Sons of Adam attack the teaching hospital he attends, Trevor can’t stand by and do nothing, especially not when someone’s life is in danger. When that life involves a gorgeous, funny paramedic, Trevor knows he’s in trouble.

Tread with care.

Paramedic Brendan Kane never thought rescuing a patient’s life would put his own at risk. Being targeted by a terrorist group was never covered in his medical training. When his security detail comes with a former member of Alpha Team, Brendan discovers a silver-lining to the situation. Trevor is hot like fire and oh so sexy, taking up space in Brendan’s life in unexpected ways that he’s reluctant to give up.

Never break an oath.

Trevor and Brendan must navigate their way through danger and a searing connection that leaves them both wanting more. If they hope to give the spark burning between them a chance to ignite, they’ll have to outlast the enemy first.

REVIEW:

I enjoyed this little continuation of the Metahuman Files series because I am just not ready to let these characters go yet. Trevor finally finds himself in medical school to become the surgeon he has always wanted to be. Just because Team Alpha isn’t a centerfold anymore, doesn’t mean they find themselves taking down some dangerous situations. When the Sons of Adam show up at the hospital and gun down Brendan, Trevor is their to save the day.

And while they both experience instantaneous attraction, neither wants to act while running on adrenaline. After Brendan finds himself as the target of a Sons of Adam revenge plot, Trevor and Brendan end up spending a lot of time together. Their chemistry was undeniable, and the two just dance around each other until everything reaches a breaking point.

I really liked the unexpected danger here and how past plot lines tied in seamlessly with this story. Their wasn’t too much action but definitely enough to keep me on the edge of my seat. But the real selling point of this book is when Trevor uses telekinesis for some epic wall sex. If that isn’t enough to make you check out this novella, I don’t know what else is. Just *chef’s kiss* to these cuties, I am glad they both found happiness.
