Review: In the Solace by Hailey Turner

SYNOPSIS:

Built to carry you.

Jamie Callahan is looking forward to spending the rest of his life with Kyle Brannigan. They’ve overcome impossible odds, and the only thing left to do is walk down the aisle together. Despite the happiness they’ve earned, their enemies haven’t all disappeared.

Make it to the other side.

Colonel Liam Wessex is thrilled his best friend is getting married, but it’s just further proof that his own life is breaking apart. With his classified identity revealed to the public, Liam is struggling with the transition into civilian life. Becoming reacquainted with MI6 Agent Oliver Archer forces Liam to reconcile his past actions with a future that just might be the answer to all of his problems.

It’s not over, it’s just the start.

Oliver thought he’d done enough to cut Liam out of his life. When their professional lives collide, he’s forced to accept the fact that Liam is no longer the spoiled prince he once knew. When terrorists target London and the unthinkable happens, Oliver and Liam learn that second chances come with a price neither can afford to pay.

REVIEW:

I shed tears of joy while reading this story. I am so sad to see this stunning, gripping world come to a close but in true Hailey Turner fashion, she gave us closure and a happily-ever-after for everyone that mattered. I am just basking in the glow of all the feels as I finished the last chapter.

I need to start with my ride or die couple, Jamie and Kyle, who finally get married. It was beautiful, I smiled and laughed through quiet sobs because these two finally made it. I was truly swooning and am smiling while I type this, if anyone deserves their shot at forever, it’s Jamie and Kyle. We were also blessed with a glimpse into their sizzling hot honeymoon and I don’t know how, but each book with these two is hotter than the previous. Their chemistry, passion, and love is tangible and I am just filled with all the fuzzy feels.

We also get more insight into Liam, who I will admit has intrigued me for several books now. A glimpse into Liam’s life, both past and present, had me looking at him in a new light. He is truly a redemption arc and similar to Jamie, the military straightened out his teenage entitlement and snobbery. I adored seeing his character growth and not only seeing him find forgiveness from Oliver but find forgiveness for himself.

Oliver was a stubborn delight. I loved how he constantly pushed Liam and wouldn’t give up an inch. He was continuously challenging and bickering with Liam but when they finally give into their undeniable chemistry…*fans self*. I wish there would have been more dialogue and healing between Oliver and Liam but it’s a hard balance to find in the middle of an epic war.

And what a war it has been. Jamie, Kyle, Liam, and others are finally closing in on Bennett. So much suspense, I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. And how everything played out left me with my jaw on the floor. The plot twists were unexpected and shocking, and I loved it. I think the only thing that I would critique is there needs to be some better fluidity between the changes in couples and plot lines during the chapters. But honestly this has been such a wild ride and now what am I supposed to do with my life?!
