Review: Obey by Piper Scott
In the dim lights of Aurora’s premier kink club waits for an alpha eager to take control.
Billionaire Crawford Daniels has bedded submissives before, but he’s never given one his collar. That privilege is reserved for the man who’s strong-willed enough to tell him, no, but whose pretty lips always say yes. Crawford wants more than a pet—he wants a partner. Someone to pamper and spoil. Or punish.
Hidden behind case reports and paperwork waits an omega afraid to give it all up.
Owen Ellis has fought tooth and nail to rise above his omega status and find success. He’s educated, successful, and independent, but deep inside, he knows something is missing. A mistake during his teenage years has led to a lifetime of loneliness, and Owen refuses to surrender his heart again. He’s afraid to be hurt.
He’ll never let another alpha in.
But some rules are meant to be broken. When Owen meets Crawford and sparks fly, Owen has to decide if happiness is worth the risk. The choice is always his. He can walk away and embrace loneliness—
—or he can wear Crawford’s collar and obey.
REVIEW:
All I want is a good omegaverse book, and while this one wasn’t bad, it still left me feeling meh. Owen and Crawford are a unique pair and I enjoyed the dynamic between them but I wish the story was just a little bit longer and we could have had a little more details about their relationship.
So I will start with what I liked, and that was Crawford. It was so refreshing to see an alpha in a story who views omegas as equals. He wasn’t condescending or rude, Crawford continued to blow my mind with how respectful he was. I also liked that both Owen and Crawford are older, they are more mature and communicated better. But this is where the story felt like it missed its chance with me.
There could have been a lot more build up and tension between Owen and Crawford. Owen’s inner monologue repeats throughout the story how Crawford is practically a stranger. And after two months passed, I still didn’t have a good grasp on who either man was on a deeper level. I would have loved to have seen some more character development. The epilogue left me wanting more, while Owen and Crawford get their steamy HEA, I wanted to be on the journey with them. But I will pick up the second book because Lucian was intriguing and I want to know more about the man Owen has been counseling.
