Review: Want Me by Neve Wilder

SYNOPSIS:

Two roommates. One calculus exam. A whole lot of extracurricular activity.

Nate:
Living with four other guys, it’s bound to happen.
Every guy’s been caught taking care of business at least once, right?
It shouldn’t be a big deal.

But I don’t know Eric as well as my other roommates, and things are a little awkward now.
He’s a loner. A mystery. Quietly confident. Smart.
Sexy as hell.

I’ve been happily subsisting on the typical frat guy diet of booze and sorority girls.
But the way Eric looked at me that night?
There was something there.
Something that’s got me curious.
Something that’s stirring up feelings I thought I’d left behind for good.

Something that’s making me think I’m not as straight as I thought I was.

I can’t get him off of my mind.
I don’t think I want to.

So when he offers to help me study for a midterm, I take him up on it.

It’s innocent.
Probably. Maybe.

There’s no way I could’ve known what it’d start…

REVIEW:

This book was sizzling. It has been a while since I’ve read NA and since I’ve been genre hopping like crazy lately, I figured why not give it a go. Neve Wilder is a new to me author but an author I have had on my TBR for while. I have to say, the book was a pleasant surprise.

The story is told across seven ‘episodes’ as it was originally for her newsletter subscribers. When Neve transferred the story into a full length novel she kept the episodes as is. This means the chapters are ridiculously long and this is probably my only grievance throughout reading the story. There just weren’t any good stopping points. But past the lack of good break points, I enjoyed the undeniable chemistry between Nate and Eric.

This all starts with the unconventional way their relationship begins. Eric unlocks Nate’s bi-awakening and so begins the lust, confusion, and chaos. As Nate struggles to get a grasp on his identity, he and Eric continue to mess around in some seriously hot sex scenes. Meanwhile, Nate is avoiding his friends and fraternity brothers until he sorts this all out in his head. I liked the internal conflict with Nate and how he processed his emotions. There are an obscene number of sex scenes in this story, to the point where I was worried that no real development would be made in their relationship.

Yet at some point Nate and Eric realized they liked spending time together. They start to share all their free time and their relationship naturally progresses from f*ck buddies to boyfriends. Nate and Eric weren’t the gush your feelings type, they were more the blurt things out when transparency was needed and otherwise go with the flow. If I had to describe their relationship I would say it was drop dead sexy with a quiet confidence. Honestly, this story was a refreshing read and I can’t wait to dive into the next book.
