Review: Line Mates & Study Dates by Eden Finley & Saxon James

SYNOPSIS:

ASHER
Hockey, studying, and school runs. That’s my life now.

After a tragic accident that took our parents’ lives, it’s up to me and my big brother to take care of our five younger siblings.

In between burning their meals and keeping them from killing each other, I’m supposed to get a college degree. It’s hard when I don’t have time to breathe let alone study, and if I don’t get my grades up, I’m in danger of losing the one thing that makes me happy: my spot on the hockey team.

Which is why when the new equipment manager offers to tutor me, I really can’t afford to say no. Even though I should.

He’s Coach’s son and way too tempting.

KOLE
As this year’s equipment manager for Dad’s hockey team, I’m expected to deal with sweaty jock straps and herding hockey players to their rooms at away games.

The job is easy, but babysitting Asher Dalton is not supposed to be a part of it.

So why, when his brother asks me to keep an eye on him, do I agree?

Why, when he’s struggling in classes, do I offer to help?

And why, when we’re studying, do I suggest a reward system that lands us squarely in bed?

Asher’s trouble, I know he is. But there’s something about him that makes it impossible to stay away.

REVIEW:

I think this might be my favorite book in the series so far. Asher and Kole took me by complete surprise, and so did the amount of heart, depth, and vulnerability these characters showed. The story was also perfectly balanced with light-hearted moments and plenty of sizzling sexy times that had me grinning and blushing.

Asher was a deliciously complex character, he wears the armor of carefree, crass, bad boy but underneath it all, he is a marshmallow. And I really enjoyed watching Kole unravel this man. Kole was just the prefect character, he had a huge heart, wasn’t afraid to go head-to-head with anyone, and was just so bold that I couldn’t help but love him. Asher’s journey over this course of this story was truly awe-inspiring and had me feeling all the feels! Especially when Kole was there each step of the way offering unwavering support and a shoulder to lean on. *cue the swoon*

I truly enjoyed the progression and terms with which their relationship began, the whole get the correct answers and get a reward friends-with-benefits was doomed from the start. But as the book went on, you could tell that things started to become so much deeper than friendship. Not to mention the scorching hot sex scenes that had me blushing and giggling like crazy. The chemistry is undeniable and I loved the steadfast bond Asher and Kole shared by the end of the story.

I am even invested in the fictional hockey at this point. I wanted the cheer when they scored goals and tell them it’s okay when they failed. I just couldn’t get enough of the romance and the hockey. I adored all the character cameos and seeing how the relationships from past books in the series have evolved. Basically I never want this series to end.
