Review: The Geek Who Saved Christmas by Annabeth Albert
His grumpy neighbor needs some holiday sunshine…
Gideon Holiday is the perfect neighbor. Need a cup of sugar? Spare folding chair? Extra batteries? He’s always ready to help. And he’s waited years for his hot, grumpy, silver fox neighbor, Paul, to need him. For anything. But this December, Gideon would be happy if he could just get the Scrooge-like Paul on board with the neighborhood holiday lights fundraiser.
Paul Frost has no intention of decking his halls or blazing any Yule logs. Even if his spunky bowtie-clad neighbor does look perfect for unwrapping, Paul would prefer to hide away until December is done. But when his beloved younger brother announces an unexpected visit, Paul needs all the trimmings for a festive homecoming—and fast.
Luckily, Gideon is there with a color-coded plan to save Christmas. Soon Paul’s hanging lights, trimming trees, and rolling out cookies. And steaming up his new flannel sheets with Gideon. How did that happen?
It’ll take some winter magic to preserve their happiness and keep these rival neighbors together longer than one holiday season.

This story was positively charming. An opposites attract Christmas romance that will have you feeling all the feels! From the whimsical setting to the endless chemistry between Gideon and Paul, this story had my Grinchy heart growing three sizes. I adored the escapism this book provided and it will definitely be a staple in my yearly holiday romance re-reads.
I love that Gideon and Paul are older because happily-ever-afters can happen at any age. Paul and Gideon both struggle with loneliness and baggage at Christmas time. Gideon copes by packing his schedule full of activities and Paul copes by being a grumpy, shut-in. Until Paul’s brother decides to visit for Christmas and he needs to deck-the-halls ASAP. Gideon and Paul teaming up to make Christmas happen in a match made in heaven. While they seem like complete opposites, their hearts are one in the same. I loved watching the tension and chemistry build between these two as Christmas inched closer.
There were plenty of heartfelt conversations that had me swooning and all up in my feels. We learn why Paul doesn’t like Christmas and why Gideon is so alone; and I adored that even in their 40s, they find love and family in each other. It wasn’t a heavy romance but it was all so endearing and festive that it had my heart soaring. And while there were moments of miscommunication between these two, I loved how they talked and worked things out. The ending was adorable and left me with a big cheesy grin on my face.
It was just the fluffy, feel-good holiday romance I have been waiting for. Plenty of sweetness and a little bit of heat that had me devouring the pages. I couldn’t get enough of these two and now that it’s over, all I want to do is read it again.
