Review: Revelations by Nikole Knight
Riley thought he knew what to expect from college, but he never planned for angels, demons, or a team of attractive, overprotective Guardians.
When one fateful night opens his eyes to a world he never knew existed, Riley Shepard must navigate a host of supernatural dangers, all while struggling with new and confusing feelings for his guardian angels. With the promise of friends, family, and freedom finally within his grasp, he fears not only for his heart but for his life as well.
Lucky for him, some things are worth dying for.
REVIEW:
This series is going to wreck me in the most delicious way. I don’t even know how I stumbled across this series, I was searching on Goodreads for a M/M vampire book and 30 minutes later I knew this was the next thing I had to read. And I devoured every page and immediately downloaded the rest of the books because this was the beginning of a beautiful book binge.
Sweet, innocent, and beautifully broken Riley is the star of this series. As soon as he met Noel for ‘the first time’ I was sold. Riley is so damaged, from his unstable upbringing to his abusive adoptive mother and tormentor roommate, my heart immediately went out to him. His tragic story instantly paints him as the underdog and it seems he has a hidden side filled with sass and bold determination that I hope we see shine in upcoming books. In terms of romance, there isn’t a whole lot of it in this book, it’s more about getting Riley comfortable and introducing him to affection and love. Which Noel and Jai have in abundance to give.
I adored how contrasting yet similar Noel and Jai were. They complimented Riley so well, especially sweet, tender Noel *cue the swoon*. And lets not forget Gideon who I think will be a challenge but a worthwhile one at that. I just loved this ragtag team of angels and the mystery surrounding Riley’s existence. It seems like Riley is constantly trying to get his feet under him and the man just can’t catch a break.
The plot sets the pace for some serious action. A war is brewing and tensions are rising between the angels and demons. Not only this but danger seems to find Riley, even on his college’s campus. And along the way, Riley learns a lot about himself and while he isn’t healed, he is definitely growing stronger and more sure of himself. I can’t wait to see how evolves and grows, onto the next book.
