Review: The Holiday Hookup by Baylin Crow

SYNOPSIS:

Reasons why Hunter Holliday is on my Naughty List:

1. He dresses like it’s Casual Friday every day of the week.

2. Everyone loves him, even though I’m pretty sure he doesn’t actually get any work done. It’s the smile, I think. Definitely the laugh.

3. He’s so relaxed, sometimes I can’t even tell if he’s awake. Or conscious.

4. He doesn’t respect my office space boundaries. Stay in your own office and stop messing with my stuff!

Okay, the list is actually really long, but none of it matters because it’s time for the annual Secret Santa exchange, and guess whose name I draw.

Hunter freaking Holliday

And he knows this because, I repeat, he won’t stay out of my office and leave my things alone.

Even though I didn’t ask, he has no problem telling me exactly what he wants.

Me. For one night

REVIEW:

A super quick, kinda cute holiday read. Actually I am feeling very lukewarm towards the entire story. I didn’t really see the romance, Finn goes from loathing Hunter to wanting him around 24/7 and it all felt very sudden. Hunter in contrast has been pining and ‘watching and waiting’ for Finn for years…in fact it all feels a bitter stalker-ish. Especially when it sounds like Hunter planned things in advance for him and Finn and just ‘assumed’ Finn would agree. I don’t know but the vibe here left me a little uncomfortable.

If you can get past Hunter’s stalker vibes, and Finn’s hot and cold act, then these two are a match. They definitely have chemistry in the bedroom, they just lacked substance outside of it. But that might just be because the story was a novella and everything happened and wrapped up quickly. I wouldn’t read this again but if you are looking for a quick read to cleanse your palette, this is your book.
